Chelsea ‘beat PSG to highly-rated winger, 18’, but bemused fans can’t understand why they’re signing yet ANOTHER player
CHELSEA are set sign to sign 18 year old Benfica winger Diego Moreira according to reports in Portugal. The teenager has emerged as an exciting prospect following his performances in Benfica’s youth ranks.
According to Portuguese outlet Record The Blues have reportedly beaten off interest from French giants PSG and Italian champions AC Milan. Moreira joined the Portuguese giants from Belgian outfit Standard Liege in August 2020 and was part of the U23 squad aged 17. Since his arrival Moreira has gone on to establish himself in the Benfica youth ranks and has been part of the first team squad since the beginning of 2022.
The 18 year old was a key member of the Benfica side that won the Uefa Youth League in the 2021-2022 campaign. Moreira is left footed and has been compared to former Manchester United winger Nani because of his pace and skill.
However, the news hasn’t gone down well with Chelsea fans taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations. One user tweeted: ” can we sort out a manager first” A second said: ” Please tell me this is a joke? Another added: “The squad keeps growing and we keep getting worse” A fourth said: ” Another winger to stink up the team”
Chelsea are reportedly set to sign the teenager on a free transfer once his contract with Benfica expires at the end of this season. Under Todd Boehly’s ownership the Blues have already signed teenagers Andrey Santos, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, David Datro Fofana, and Gabriel Slonina.
