Kylian Mbappe sends cryptic Liverpool transfer message amid Chelsea and Real Madrid links
Many football fans are wondering about the future of Kylian Mbappe. As reported by Marca earlier this week, Mbappe wants to leave Paris Saint- Germain in January, but not to join Real Madrid – the club he has been linked with for some time.
So where does Mbappe go? The report states that Liverpool is one of Mbappe’s only feasible options and it will certainly only be a few elite clubs who have the financial muscle and reputation to sign the Frenchman.
Given Chelsea’s finances and pulling power, they could be one of Mbappe’s other options. The Blues spent heavily under Todd Boehly during the summer and their reported pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo highlights that the American won’t shy away from signing a global superstar.
Mbappe was actually questioned on his future earlier this week at a charity event, according to RMC Sport. The 23-year-old was asked if he’d rather sign for Real Madrid or Liverpool by an audience member, but unsurprisingly, he stayed tight-lipped on the issue.
The report states that he, ‘displayed a broad smile’ in response to the question, before passing the microphone to famous comedian Jamel Debbouze. The question prompted the organiser to remind attendees that he would not answer questions about his future.
However, that didn’t stop Mbappe from hinting that he could be looking to leave PSG as he targets winning a second World Cup next month in Qatar.
“For now, a second World Cup,” he said when talking about his short terms goals. “After that, I don’t know.”
With Mbappe not using the situation as an opportunity to commit his loyalty to PSG, the transfer speculation that surrounds him shows no signs of going away. It remains to be seen whether he actually does leave PSG in January – and also whether Chelsea are one of the clubs who could launch a move.
