Napoli star makes huge transfer decision as Frank Lampard given Mason Mount update
Mauricio Pochettino dealt Chelsea transfer blow as Napoli star makes Manchester United decision
Napoli star Kim Min-jae has decided to join Manchester United this summer with Erik ten Hag’s side and Chelsea still pursuing a deal for the South Korean’s team-mate, Victor Osimhen. The 26-year-old defender has been linked with summer switches to Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford for months despite only moving to Naples last year.
The South Korean international enjoyed a brilliant campaign as he starred in the club’s Serie A title-winning campaign, but his contract is believed to contain a €50million (£43million) release clause. A report in Naples-based Il Mattino states that United are in pole position to land Osimhen this summer with their interest accelerating due to Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain monitoring the Nigerian’s situation.
Chelsea sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old in Napoli’s defeat against Monza on Sunday, with the report adding that the same figures involved in convincing Kim to join United are attempting to make the Osimhen deal a reality. Talks between Napoli and Ten Hag’s side for Kim are complimenting that of Osimhen, after United first outlined their interest to the club last August and Napoli are open to a sale for the right price this summer.
Chelsea offer Mason Mount update as Mauricio Pochettino
deal edges closer to announcement Chelsea have provided an update on Mason Mount’s recovery as fans await Mauricio Pochettino’s announcement as manager. The 24-year-old has suffered with plenty of injuries this season, with an ongoing pelvic issue plaguing him this season.
Mount had surgery to fix a long-term injury problem with caretaker manager Frank Lampard admitting it was unlikely that the English midfielder would feature again for the Blues this term. Chelsea have just three Premier League fixtures left to play this season with back-to-back games in Manchester against Man City and Man United.
Pochettino is said to be determined to keep Mount at Stamford Bridge next season with Liverpool and Arsenal both keen on taking advantage of the 24-year-old’s contract situation. The England international has rejected numerous approaches from the Blues over extending his deal.
Kylian Mbappe asked Mauricio Pochettino three Premier League questions amid Chelsea announcement
Mauricio Pochettino has already revealed discussions he has had with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe about the Premier League during their time working together in the French capital. The Argentine has agreed a deal to become Chelsea’s next head coach ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, football.london understands.
Pochettino has been out of a job since he left PSG following their Ligue 1 title success back at the end of the 2021/22 season. Todd Boehly had originally considered the 51-year- old to become the Blues’ manager after sacking Thomas Tuchel, but opted for Graham Potter instead.
Pochettino has already lifted the lid on some of the conversations he has had with Mbappe in the past, revealing they talk in three languages — French, English and Spanish — and that the 24-year-old regularly asked him about the Premier League. “Kylian loves football, he loves to talk about football,” Pochettino told The Guardian in 2021.
