Neymar was unable to help Brazil win the World Cup in Qatar as they suffered a shock defeat on penalties against Croatia. The Selecao were one of the favourites to win the tournament but joined the Netherlands, Portugal and England in being knocked out in the quarter-finals.

The final four nations have now been confirmed with Croatia taking on Argentina, whilst Morocco will face France . Neymar had missed Brazil’s final two Group G fixtures through injury after suffering a sprained ankle in their opening World Cup fixture against Serbia. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar returned to face South Korea and help Tite’s squad progress into the last eight before they were beaten on penalties.

Neymar thought he had won the clash against Croatia for his nation with his 106th minute goal before Bruno Petkovic scored a surprise equaliser in the 117th minute.

Tite has since resigned as Brazil manager after failing to lead his players to a World Cup semi- final against South American rivals Argentina. Chelsea star Thiago Silva looks to have played his last match for Brazil at a major international tournament after hinting at retirement from international football.
