Salah Makes Chelsea Title Claim As He Names The Clubs He Believes Liverpool WIll Be Competing With
Liverpool forward Mo Salah thinks both Chelsea and Manchester City will be the Reds’ closest challenges for the Premier League this season.
Salah’s team head into Monday night’s game against Manchester United with just two points from their first two matches, and he feels they can’t afford to drop too many more because of the quality of their two title rivals:
“I think for everybody we can feel that we can’t really lose a point that early. You fight with City, you fight with Chelsea, two teams that don’t drop points easily. We just need to focus again and try to win games.”
It’s interesting that Salah has omitted both Arsenal and Tottenham from the conversation, considering both North London teams have had strong starts to the campaign.
Yet, it seems the Egyptian international sees Thomas Tuchel’s side as more of a threat. In four games in all competitions last season, Liverpool failed to beat the Blues in 90 minutes and that is probably playing on his mind.
Chelsea will have to justify the tag of title contenders, though, by getting some more points on the board between now and when they meet Salah’s side next month.
