Chelsea are weighing up whether to make a move for Lille forward Jonathan David when the transfer window reopens in January, according to reports in France. Manager Graham Potter is said to be keen on recruiting a new striker and the Canadian international is believed to be on a shortlist of targets.

Fans on Twitter are very much split on whether signing David would be a good idea. Some think he would be a great addition to the squad, while others feel that Armando Broja should be given the chance to stake his claim for a starting spot:

Would be a smart signing imo. — Mikkel Kjær Nielsen (@MikkelNielsen00) October 17, 2022

We don’t need him. We have Armando Broja — 𝔠𝔥𝔞𝔦𝔯𝔪𝔞𝔫✨ (@OdogwuNaNkwerre) October 17, 2022

David has been linked with plenty of Premier League clubs over the last couple of years. After a relatively disappointing 2021/22 campaign, rumours about a move did quieten down for a while, but he has started this season in excellent form with 9 goals in 11 appearances.

It is believed that Lille will hold out for a fee in excess of €50m (£43m) for the 22-year-old so we shall see whether the Blues will make a bid.
